Supporting Documents

If you are interested in the project, we urge you to have a look at our core documents (below) and see for yourself how they may speak to you. They define the conceptual and philosophical foundations and inner workings of the Common.

The overall intent in developing our various documents is to establish that we are a community that adheres to well defined principles and rules that establish pathways and parameters that strikes an equitable balance between the rights and privileges of the individual and the good of the community as a whole.

We hope that you will be interested and supportive of the goals and principles and see how they are practiced and will be practiced as the community matures.

The documents are written in the spirit of informing and uplifting to be encouraging rather than suppressing—yet all within the parameters of what we call “best practices” that will insure outstanding outcomes for the community and future generations. A lot of thought and research has gone into our “best practices”, and it has been an enlightening process because there is so much good information and so many wise people available. We want the Common to go forward grounded on good information and ideas that we are always working to improve and develop. Our intent is to appeal to people who want to put good ideas and theory into practice whether it be about how to best run a meeting or to how to grow a potato.

These are “living documents,” and over time they will change, grow, and evolve as the community works together and creates better insight on how to improve them. We learn from the process, people take ownership of the outcomes, and our confidence grows. And we are having lots of fun. We hope that you would see yourselves as effective and happy in this mix that challenges and rewards.
